What is an Essential Oil Diffuser?
An essential oil diffuser is a device (or material) that releases essential oils into the air in a slow, controlled way. They act as a kind of buffer—basically “weighing down” these otherwise flighty, eager-to-flee oils. And while you definitely don’t need them, diffusers can significantly extend the lifetime of a bottle of essential oil.
What are the Different Types of Essential Oil Diffusers?
There are several different types of diffusers. There’s everything from heat diffusers (which use heat to break down essential oils) to nebulizing diffusers (which can evaporate oils without water).
However, two of the most popular essential oil diffusers are:
Ultrasonic diffusers like our ZOE ultrasonic diffuser
and Ceramic diffuser disks (or Clay diffusers) like our Gentle Waves terracotta diffuser disk.
While the two function very differently, they both basically accomplish the same things:
- Making essential oils evaporate much more slowly
- Controlling how much oil evaporates at once
